Strips and Pretty Stitches

For a while I’ve had a stash of unused, mostly low volume 1.5″ strips leftover from another quilt project and I’ve wanted to put them to good use. Several weeks ago I was able to complete this lap quilt and I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. I added a grey checkerboard strip, some solid 2.5″ strips spread throughout on which I did decorative stitching with my Janome 8900 and a tiny narrow strip of bright red going lengthwise to be playful. I LOVE the vintage vibe of the pretty stitches and want to do more of them on future projects. I backed this with simple white flannel that I had leftover as well. Love pulling together all these leftover items that I have on hand to make something beautiful!! I quilted it with simple straight lines top to bottom except for the zigzag quilting going through the checkerboard strip for interest. Finished size is 51″ X 62.5″
